When you think about the condition of your roof, it is easy to forget about the guttering. The roof’s guttering plays a vital role in directing water away from the building, avoiding potential problems caused by water damage.
If your guttering is not functioning as it should and is overflowing with water or you begin to see water damage on your homes brickwork, you need to take immediate action to avoid any long-term damage.
Leaves and twigs from storms or birds’ nests can easily find themselves up on the roof and in the guttering, a build-up of this in combination with water can create a blockage. The blockage may be easily seen or may be found in one of the downpipes, either way, it needs to be cleared for easy flow of water drainage away from the home.
Guttering should be checked during all seasons, and especially following a period of high wind. If your guttering still isn’t flowing properly you may need to consider getting a completely new guttering system.
