Cladded roofs have been a popular choice among many business owners operating through the UK. Typically these types of roofs have always been favoured in the manufacturing and storage industries such as self-storage plants and large manufacturing plants. This is due to the quick and effective installation method that the system uses. Essentially the roof parts are pre-manufactured into large building blocks that are slabbed together on large steel RSJ’s.
These are then mechanically fixed down to the steel frames which uses 5 inch fixers. The problem with these particular fixings is that they tend to rust over a number of years which means each cladding panel becomes lose and can leak. This is a common occurrence with the fixings because they aren’t specially coated with any resin to protect it from oxidation, the process of rusting. When this occurs a roof condition survey may be required to determine the continued life expectancy of the roof and it’s reliable service life.
